Phlegm can be described as the sticky substance that is secreted by the mucus membrane in your respiratory system. When the mucus in your body gets congealed, it is referred to as phlegm. Alternately, you could drink some hot ginger tea a few times a day, to clear your respiratory passage. You could also prepare a paste using ginger, carnation and cinnamon. Grind all the ingredients together and add a little water, to make a paste. Add a dab of honey to the paste and swallow it. This phlegm remedy should be used at least twice a day, for maximum effectiveness.
  • Licorice root: Create a mixture, using licorice root, sugar crystals, dry ginger and black pepper. This phlegm remedy helps to reduce the discharge and stop the production of phlegm. Have one teaspoon of this phlegm remedy at least three times a day.
  • Water: Drink at least 10 to 12 glasses of lukewarm water, to keep your body well hydrated. This is not only an effective phlegm remedy, as it breaks up the phlegm, but also helps alleviate the soreness in the throat.
