itchy nose

An itch is defined as a prickling sensation that one might feel in some part of the body. This sensation prompts the desire to scratch. When an itch is scratched there is temporary relief. Itching can be caused by a number of different conditions. Simple dry skin can be itchy because the skin is irritated and microscopic cracks may form on the skin surface. An itch can be caused by the presence of some foreign material that is lodged in the skin. It may also be caused by some irritant, like a chemical, that has caused the skin to react.

An itchy nose is an annoying condition that needs to be sorted out in order to provide some relief to the individual suffering from it. There are usually two reasons that cause an itchy nose. A common cold causes symptoms of an itchy nose. This itch is associated with the continuous flow of fluid from the nose. As one wipes the nose, there is constant abrasion on the skin surface of the nose. This constant abrasion causes the skin on the tip of the nose to be slightly damaged. This damage can cause itching. Sometimes, itching occurs just before a cold sets in as the body has already begun fighting the infection which is also affecting the nose. Another reason for an itchy nose is an allergic response. An allergy can cause the nose to be itchy and for the production of fluid to begin. This slimy fluid is designed to wash away infectious particles from the nose and flows as long as there is an infection in the nose. It is best advised that the nose is regularly cleaned and washed so that the infectious material is continuously removed until the condition passes.

An itchy nose can be caused by problems other than an allergy or a common cold. There are many different conditions that can cause skin related symptoms. If one has also ruled out dry skin, then a visit to a doctor may be necessary. This is necessary because the itchy nose may be a symptom of some deeper condition.
The symptoms of an itchy nose could be reduced, to some extent, by the application of a cold cream on the affected area. This application may provide the skin with some relief and may also help to moisturize the dried skin at the tip of the nose.
