home remedies for uti in humans

Urinary Tract Infection is a condition in which bacteria may infest the urinary tract and infect the kidneys, ureter, urethra, and the bladder. Usually, the bacteria enter the urinary tract through the urethra and travel the length of the tract, procreating and multiplying. Urinary tract infection can cause a lot of distress to a person as it is extremely painful and can also be very embarrassing. Usually, in the absence of proper and timely treatment, such infections can spread to the kidneys and this can become a serious health issue as time progresses.

Women are more prone to developing urinary tract infections since the distance from their urethra to the urinary tract is very small. If the infection is not treated well in time, it is likely to spread to the kidneys and cause a serious health condition known as cystitis.

The most common symptom of UTI is the sudden and frequent urge to go to the bathroom and urinate. There may be a burning sensation when passing urine and if the infection is severe, you may even see the presence of blood in your urine. A person may experience chills, fatigue, fever, and general malaise due to UTI. A dull pain in the back and painful sensations right below the ribs are some of the other common symptoms of UTI.
Fortunately there are many home remedies for UTI in humans which can be used to treat this infection. These home remedies for UTI are simple and use general ingredients from the kitchen. The first thing to do when you experience the symptoms of UTI is to drink a glass of water with half a teaspoon of baking soda in it. This would help in increasing the acid base balance inside the body. When the urine becomes acidic, the bacteria are naturally removed from the urinary tract.

During this time, it is also recommended that you drink a lot of water and fluids so that your system is able to generate a good flow of urine. When you consume a lot of water, the toxins in the body are diluted and flushed out along with the bacteria.

Some other home remedies for UTI in humans include treatment with cranberry juice. Pure cranberry juice is an excellent remedy for UTIs. If you feel that the juice is too strong for you, you may add some apple juice with it to make it more dilute. If you want to use aromatherapy for treatment of UTI, the essential oils of frankincense, tea tree, sandalwood, juniper, and bergamot are excellent options. You could mix equal parts of all these oils and add to it carrier oil. Mix well and apply the resulting solution over your bladder area. Ideally, this should be repeated for four days after which you should see some respite from your symptoms.
