Indigestion also known as dyspepsia is a term used to describe problems related to stomach pain, acidity, heartburn, gas or bloating and acid regurgitation. Indigestion could also lead to diarrhea and even vomiting. The condition arises when the digestive juices in the stomach are not secreted properly. Indigestion can also be caused by stress, anxiety, alcohol or smoking, over eating, peptic ulcers, eating oily, spicy and deep fried foods, pregnancy, gallstones, anti inflammatory drugs and bad eating habits.

  • Mix a few drops of mint essence in a glass of water and drink it about 3 to 4 times in a day. This will help flush out the acids from your system. Another good alternative is to chew mint leaves after meals as it helps cure indigestion.
  • In order to avoid acid indigestion mix some apple cider vinegar or lemon juice in water and drink it before meals. You can also drink lemon and honey mixed in water for acid indigestion problems.

You should chew a small piece of fresh ginger with salt for 5 to 10 minutes before meals.
  • If you want immediate relief from indigestion than take some baking soda and add to it some finely chopped fresh garlic and a pinch of salt and eat it. Drinking baking soda in water is also very helpful for upset stomach.
  • Take 3 tablespoons of curd and mix with it 3 to 4 basil leaves, black pepper and a pinch of rock salt. Have this mix 3 to 4 times a day. This will help recondition your stomach.
  • Finally another one of the quick home remedies for indigestion and an upset stomach is to chew on a mix of half teaspoon of carom seeds and small pinch of rock salt and then swallow it all with water.
