gum boils
Gum boils are a very common occurrence in people of all ages. A majority of the people would actually confuse gum boils with sores in the mouth or even around the mouth and are caused by a virus. This is probably due to the fact that gum boils are a common type of mouth sores. In fact, there is a variety of gum boils that affect not just the gums, but also the tongue, the insides of the cheek and other parts of the mouth. In most cases gum boils are not really a cause for concern, but they can cause a lot of pain and discomfort. Gum boils usually occur where a tooth abscess is found. Symptoms like earache, a foul taste in the mouth, severe pain and fever often accompany gum boils. In most instances, it is strongly recommended that you visit a dentist to deal with gum boils; however, there are certain home remedies for gum boils that can help reduce the pain and inflammation:
- Apply some goldenseal tincture to treat the abscessed tooth. The gum boils normally burst and drain, after a couple of applications. Make sure that you rinse your mouth carefully, to avoid swallowing the pus and blood.
- Place a dry tea bag, of preferably black tea, directly on the affected area. The tea bag helps by reducing the swelling and pain, by drawing out the infection and draining the pus out of the gum boils. For maximum effectiveness leave the tea bag on for several hours and preferably overnight.
- Use some hydrogen peroxide to rinse your mouth and disinfect the gum that is affected. Use hydrogen peroxide after the application of goldenseal, to get rid of the infection.
- Prepare a poultice using baking soda, salt and a wet piece of cotton. Place the poultice directly on the gum boil, applying mild pressure. You can use this poultice for several hours or prepare fresh ones and apply it to the infected area, several times a day.
- Tea tree oil, grapefruit seed extract and colloidal silver can all be diluted in water to make an excellent mouthwash, especially for gum boils.
• Boost your intake of vitamins, to allow your body to fight the infection in gum boils. You can take 1000mgs of Vitamin C pr garlic capsules, around three or four times a day. Before taking any medication or vitamins, it is important to check with a doctor.
However, if certain gum boils or mouth sores do not appear to be healing, it is best to have them checked by a doctor.
