dark spots around mouth
Dark spots around mouth could be caused by a variety of factors. You may have developed a skin eczema and if this is the case, the spots may be visible on other parts of your body. This may be a bacterial or viral infection and it will require a consultation with your dermatologist. A toothpaste allergy can also cause the dark spots especially since it is concentrated around your mouth. One remedy would be to change your toothpaste and to go for something that is largely herbal. The most common reason, however, is hyper pigmentation. If this particular area has a high concentration of melanin, then every time it gets exposed to the harmful UV rays of the sun, the melanin production goes into overdrive causing the black spots. Use a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more whenever you step out into the sun. Use a wide brimmed hat to cover your head and wrap your face up in a scarf. If the black spots are not raw or sore, you can make an exfoliator at home by combining the juice of one lemon to a little sugar. Sugar functions as an exfoliator while lemon is a natural bleaching agent. Massage gently into your skin and do not scrub too hard lest the skin breaks. Aloe vera gel taken from the stem of the plant, petroleum jelly and calamine lotion are other remedies to get rid of any irritation temporarily. Mix a little turmeric powder, honey and yogurt and apply the paste onto the areas. Wash off in fifteen minutes and continue the treatment for two weeks to get rid of the dark spots around the mouth.
