Vitamins for Healthy Eyes
The vitamin that is considered to be important in the care and maintenance of healthy eyes and good vision is vitamin A. If you are looking to keep your eyes in generally excellent health, you need to bone up on your intake of vitamin A. the sources of this are milk and milk products, shell fish and fish such as cod and herring and most fruits and vegetables that are yellow and orange in color. Another excellent source of this particular nutrient is animal innards. If you are a meat eater, you must try and focus specifically on liver, which is said to be the richest source of vitamin A. It would be a good idea to eat it about twice a week at least and that too on a regular basis. Besides, fruits and vegetables that contain yellow and red dyes – and this would also include all the shades in between – are supposed to be excellent for eye function. You should also try to eat these fruits and vegetables in a raw state, rather than them being cooked, since cooking can diminish their nutritional properties. Vitamin A is not a nutrient you would not be able to find in your daily and general food intake, if you are a person eating a healthy diet. A well balanced and wholesome square meal would include this important nutrient. Instead of fortifying yourself with supplements and trying to make up for a deficiency, it is better that you concentrate on your daily meals and ensure that they are healthy and all encompassing. This way, you will also not have to focus specifically on any aspect of your health.

When applied to the eyes, this has the property of cleansing your eyes out by activating the tear glands. Though it may sting, honey is probably one of the best natural cleansers of the eye. Bilberry is also another herb that is considered to be particularly useful in care of the eyes. Research has revealed that vision becomes sharper if bilberry is consumed. It is also extremely rich in anti oxidants and certain tannins that are particularly useful in maintaining good eye health. Bilberry contains substances that encourage good circulation of the blood in the eye area and thus help to keep them healthy. Try to eat the fruit fresh if possible.
