Varicose Vein Removal

The supply and circulation of blood in our body is taken care of by a highly evolved network of blood vessels. The veins transport blood from the organs to the heart and venous valves maintain the pressure of the blood so that the veins remain healthy and do not overload themselves. There are however, people whose venous valves are not very strong. They are not able to maintain the pressure of blood in the valves. Often, the pull of gravity causes blood to rush down in large quantities. This sudden surge of blood exerts a lot of pressure on the walls of the veins and often makes them weak. The walls of the veins become stretched and lose their elasticity over a period of time. Gradually, the veins begin to lose their shape and become either large or convoluted. Also the walls begin to be pushed outwards and eventually you can see the veins through the skin.

Varicose veins not only look ugly, but also cause a lot of pain. Sometimes, it is so painful that you might not be able to walk. There are many ways to get rid of the pain caused by varicose veins; however, it is impossible to completely treat them. Therefore it is better if you know about varicose veins and work towards preventing the disease from happening to you. When the veins become convoluted, the supply of blood becomes erratic. The heart’s capacity may also get affected because of this. If the supply remains irregular, blood could keep getting accumulated in one place and the formation of a clot is possible. The clot keeps moving with the flow of the blood and could reach the heart, causing a cardiac arrest, lungs causing collapse of the lung or the brain, causing hemorrhages. This is quite a dangerous prospect and should be avoided.

The commonest way to treat varicose veins today is to have a surgery to remove the superficial veins that have been affected. The surgeries differ according to the location and number of veins that need to be treated. However, the most common of these surgeries are known as stripping and ligation.
Apart from the surgery to remove the pains, you can temporarily rid yourself of the pain by simply resting with your legs elevated to ease the pressure on the veins and regularize the blood flow.
There are special stockings known as compression stockings that are graduated and apply a particular amount of force. These stockings help in correcting the swelling. They also help in improving the blood circulation and aid in better absorption of the micronutrients.
