If you have had a urinary tract infection once, then it is likely that you will recognize the symptoms the next time around. Urinary tract infections are not hard to miss, and although not all people experience symptoms, most people do. Here is a closer look at the common symptoms of UTIs.
Urge to urinate: One of the first symptoms of a urinary tract infection is the feeling that you need to urinate. Sometimes you will go to the bathroom feeling like you need to urinate, but nothing happens. This is quite common and almost always points to a urinary tract infection.
Passing small amounts of urine: To go along with the feeling of needing to urinate, is the problem of passing only a very small amount of urine when you go to the bathroom. This is also very common and many times, as soon as you leave the bathroom, you will still feel like you need to go again.
Burning, and pain during urination: Another very common symptom of a UTI is a burning sensation during urination. This can be very painful and if you have this feeling, it should not be ignored.
Blood in the urine: When you have a UTI, you may have notice that your urine is very cloudy, strong smelling, or even bloody. If you have this along with any of the above symptoms, then it should give you a warning to see your doctor.
Of course, some people have other symptoms. These may include upper back pain, fever, chills and vomiting. Lower abdomen pain may also be present as well as pelvic pressure and discomfort. Urinary tract infections are very common, but the good news is that they are very treatable. Many times, you will only need to increase you fluid intake and take an antibiotic.
