Arthritis is collectively referred the occurrence of inflammation and damage in the joints which can occur due to several reasons. Depending upon the different reasons arthritic can be classified in to different types. The different types of arthritis are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gouty arthritis, septic arthritis, Juvenile idiopathic arthritis, disease, and ankylosing spondylitis. Some of them as osteoarthritis are very common while some others as the rheumatoid arthritis are comparatively rare.
The reasons for the development different types of arthritis can be physical damage to the joints, excessive pressure on the joints, nutritional deficiency, deformations in the joints due to genetic reasons, etc. in addition to this infections and rise in the uric acid level in the body( in case of gout) also are among the reasons. Some of the reasons are preventable which can prevent arthritis, which can arise due to them. However, there are some reasons as genetics, infection in the joints, physical damages, etc, which cannot be controlled.
The common symptoms in the different types of arthritis are inflammation in the joints. This inflammation gives rise to pain. After some time swelling, redness, etc, as well develop in the joints. Because of all this the movement or activity of the patient are affected. However, arthritis is not limited to inflammation and pain only. In the severe cases, the different types of arthritis give rise to different type of complications as well.
In all the types of arthritis, the cartilages and the other parts to the joints are damaged. It may lead to severe damages as well as. For example, loss of the entire cartilage in the joint, etc. some arthritis as rheumatoid arthritis, septic arthritis may have effects on the other parts of the body as well. Gouty arthritis, which is condition in which the blood is saturated with uric acid and therefore it starts depositing in the different parts, may give rise to stone in kidneys, liver, etc.
Reducing the inflammation and therefore the pain is an important part of the arthritis treatment. Medications, exercise, massage, rest; nutritional supplements are the important parts of arthritis treatment. There is no treatment available, which can cure arthritis permanently. Whatever treatments are available are for curing the symptoms only. Moreover, they can, keep arthritis under control as well, to some extent. In most of the types of arthritis, it becomes necessary to remove affected part of the joint. In some cases, the whole joint itself is damaged and therefore it needs to be removed.
