Diet to Lower Triglycerides
Fats in food and in the human body are stored in a chemical form called triglycerides. These triglycerides, in appropriate quantities are extremely important for the body to perform some of its most basic operations. Whenever the unused fat from consumed food or liquid is not immediately used by the body’s tissue, is transported to the fat cells. Triglycerides are nothing but the way the fat is contained and enables transportation for the fat to the fat cells and back when required.
A number of factors can influence the levels of triglycerides in the human body. In the current climate, where there is a huge focus on they type of food we eat, triglycerides are probably the most debated concern. In almost every health magazine, you will see articles about how to stay healthy and eat the right way for your body. This is largely because a number of people are oblivious to the effects that uncontrolled calorie consumption can have on their bodies. However, the sugar content in alcohol is also a big contributor to the triglyceride count of the body.
Triglyceride Lowering Diet
Excess triglyceride levels can have serious health concerns, the most well known being blockages of the arteries leading to a heart attack. Because of the awareness being spread about the complications that excess levels of triglycerides can have in the long run, a number of people are taking an active interest in the dietary steps to keep these levels in control. Follow these basic rules and you will be healthier.
• Eat healthy and make sure your diet contains an ample amount of fruits and vegetables. Low fat dairy products are also acceptable.
• Get a decent amount of exercise to help your body burn the excess fat that is stored within your body.
• If you consume alcohol, reduce the amount of intake considerably. As previously mentioned, the sugar in the alcohol will increase the levels of triglycerides in your body substantially.
• Instead of consuming foods like hamburgers, try a bit of fish instead. Fish like mackerel, sardines and lake trout are most recommended.
• If you are overweight, chances are you have already been asked to cut down on foods with high calories. If you haven’t followed the advice yet, it’s recommended that you do so, because if you are seriously obese then it is likely that most fats have already started clogging your arteries.
