Back pain is a common health problem these days. You must visit a doctor and work with a physiotherapist in order to get relief from the pain. However, if you want to treat back pain at home, try some of the following tips and treatment options.
- You need to rest if you want to cure back pain. Try lying down on the floor with a pillow to ease the pressure of the back.
- Try heat therapy for curing back pain. Buy an infra red lamp and use it to get some relief from the pain.
- A massage can be another healing option. Go to an experienced masseur and get a massage to loosen up the back muscles
- A physiotherapist will be able to recommend some healing stretching exercises. Regular stretching exercises can loosen up the muscles.
- While resting is important, avoid lying down the whole time to feel better. Move around, do simple tasks around the house and keep the blood circulating through the back.
- You might even use an ice pack to cure the area. Place an ice pack on your back for 15-20 minutes for relief. Make your own pack by wrapping some ice cubes in a towel.
- A warm bath can be great to provide relief for a painful back.
- Check the condition of your mattress. If the mattress is soft and spongy, it might not be able to support your back well when you are sleeping. In that case, get another mattress that is firm.
- Make sure that you are sleeping enough. Lack of sleep can cause several health problems.
- You might like to ingest an aspirin or two to provide quick relief.
- You can use a cushion while sitting in a car or while at work.
- It is also very important to pay attention to your posture. Use an ergonomically designed chair while working. Also, when you work at a sedentary job, make sure that you take short breaks and do a few stretching exercises.
- Swimming is a good exercise and good for those with back pain. Swimming exercises all the muscles of the body and keeps them stretched and healthy.
- Exercising regularly is another way to keep the pain at bay and prevent back pain. Jog, walk, dance, or play a sport. Remain active through the day and include more physical activity in your life.
- Keep your weight in check. Obesity can lead to several health issues, including back pain and pain in the knees.
