Headache Cures
Headache is defined literally as a dull pain in the head. It is a pain that is felt in areas around the outer side of the skull or within the skull but not in the brain. The brain does not have receptors and is not sensitive to pain. A headache may be caused by environmental factors such as spending too much time in the hot sun, or watching a computer or television screen for an extended period of time. It may also be a symptom of a condition like a common cold. In serious cases, headaches are caused by diseases such as meningitis, encephalitis, and the like. It can also be caused by a brain tumor or an aneurysm. You can contact your doctor for a list of disease that would cause headaches. Always note that these diseases will have accompanying symptoms.
Remedies for headaches depend on the area of the head that is affected and the cause for the headache. A headache that is caused by a common cold is generally attributed to a feeling of stuffiness or clogging in the sinuses. The best remedy for this would be to use the steam inhalation technique. Boil a bowl of water and place it on a table while covered. Make a tent around your head using a towel. Once you are under the tent, remove the cover of the water and begin to take deep breaths in and out of the steam rising from the bowl. You can even add a few drops of eucalyptus oil in the water to enhance the effect. Be careful not to spend too much time under the tent as this may cause burning on your skin. Move out from under the tent, wipe your face, wait a few seconds and then repeat the process. You may also experience a running nose after this. This will be the result of the steam inhalation as it helps in loosening the clogged mucus in your sinuses. Blow this out of your nose.
There are a number of pastes that you can make and smear on your forehead to cure a headache. These include pastes made from ginger powder and water, cloves and water and lemon crust with water. You can also drink plenty of fluids if the headache is a result of excessive heat exposure. Headaches can also be caused by digestive problems. In this case, try to cure your digestive distress and your headache will disappear.
