Gonorrhea Remedies
Caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae, gonorrhea is a common sexually transmitted disease (STD) that affects the genitourinary tract especially the cervix, the urethra, and the fallopian tube in women. Unprotected sexual intercourse, whether vaginal, oral or anal, with an already infected person is the primary cause of contracting gonorrhea. The infection can also be passed on from an infected mother to her child while giving birth. Even though gonorrhea is contagious, it cannot be passed on with casual contact. Another cause of gonorrhea, even though it’s not as common as sexual transmission, is going to unclean toilets. The symptoms of gonorrhea include burning sensation and pus-like discharge while urinating, frequent urination, painful sexual intercourse, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, and pain in the pelvis and lower abdomen. Men show symptoms of gonorrhea in two days to a fortnight of being exposed to the bacteria. Men experience a tingling sensation in the urethra while passing urine. On the other hand, women do not always show any symptoms of gonorrhea till the condition has reached an advanced stage. Women, on the other hand, may experience no symptoms at all until the condition is in the advanced stages. It is important to treat gonorrhea immediately If the condition is not detected and treated early, it can lead to urethritis or prostitis in men. Women are at a risk of suffering from pelvic inflammatory disease or PID, which results in infertility if the infection spreads to the uterus and the fallopian tubes. Gonorrhea can also affect the joints, the heart, and cause blood poisoning.
To prevent gonorrhea, one must have safe and hygienic sexual intercourse. Avoiding multiple sexual partners and cleansing oneself before and after the intercourse is also necessary to prevent gonorrhea. It’s also important to prevent rough sexual intercourse as abrasion can aggravate the symptoms. The sufferer must wear comfortable cotton clothing as synthetic clothing can worsen the symptoms. The sufferer can also take a warm hip bath with ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar or a few drops of tea tree oil added to the water. Both these products have antibacterial properties that deal with the problem. One can also dip a tampon in unflavored yogurt or apply a few drops of tea tree oil on it and insert it twice a day. Maintaining a balanced diet with fresh fruits and vegetables and drinking lots of water every day is also beneficial in getting relief from the symptoms of gonorrhea.
