Reducing Fibroids Size:

Fibroids are small growth of tissue that are commonly found on the walls of the uterus or womb that are usually made up of a mixture of muscle tissue from the uterus and threadlike fibers of some connective tissues. They are also commonly referred to as uterine fibroids, myomas or fibromyomas. The occurrence of fibroids is quite common and is known to affect about 20% of all women at some stage of their lives while women around the ages of 30 and 50 are most likely to develop them. While some women may be affected by a single fibroid, others may be affected by as many as a hundred and they can vary in size from being as small as the point of a pin to being as large as a golf ball. Depending on what part of the uterus they develop in, they may be classified differently. Intramural fibroids that are most commonly situated in the wall of the uterus are the most common type. Subserosal fibroids will develop outside the wall of the uterus and can become quite large. Submucosal fibroids will develop in the muscle that lies beneath the lining of the uterus wall, while cervical fibroids will occur in the neck of the womb.

It is hard for most women to detect if they are affected by fibroids because of the fact that most of them will experience absolutely no symptoms. However, some symptoms, if they occur, include a feeling of constipation, backaches, significant discomfort in the lower abdomen, pain in the legs, heavy and painful periods as well as frequent urination. Due to the significant rise in the estrogen levels during a pregnancy, this may also speed up fibroid growth – which can lead to early labor, miscarriages or other pregnancy related problems.

The best methods of treating the condition will usually mean a change in a woman’s lifestyle. Consuming three or more servings of beans or whole grains on a daily basis will not only help reduce the size of the fibroids, but offer protection from breast cancer as well. Starting on a strict fitness regime will help considerably as well. Placing a few warm castor oil packs over the belly will help relieve any pain being experienced while also helping reduce fibroid size. You should also try boosting the health of your liver by consuming a high amount of milk thistle seed or yellow dock root as they will help in the metabolism of estrogen, thereby reducing the size of the fibroids.
