Osteoarthritis is a most common form of arthritis and it is called degenerative joint disease or OA. The common symptoms of osteoarthritis are pain, swelling and reduced motion in your joints.  It can occur in any joint of your body.  It affects your hands, knees, hips and spine.  This disease represents failure of a diarthordial joint. Another name of osteoarthritis is degenerative joint disease. The risks factors for osteoarthritis include age, repetitive injury, obesity, race and gender.

Age is the most common factor behind the symptoms of osteoarthritis as it increases chances of osteoarthritis in older people from 2 percent to 30 percent. It is commonly found in people who are aged from 45 to 65 years.
Race and gender is also responsible to develop symptoms of osteoarthritis, this pattern is commonly found in women than in men.  The hip osteoarthritis is commonly found in white population but interphalangeal joint osteoarthritis is commonly found in African population. Sometimes, genetics and joint usage is also responsible to develop osteoarthritis.

Risks factors for osteoarthritis includes repetitive injury in people, those had an accident sometime before, so they may develop symptoms of osteoarthritis, it is because due to accident, it affects cartilage in your joints; the cartilage a type of slippery and smooth tissue that acts as a cover to the ends of bones in joints.  If the cartilage is healthy then it will absorbs the shock movement and when it is not healthy then it will cause your bones rub together. Therefore, due to rubbing it can damage your joint permanently. This is one of the major risks factors for Osteoarthritis.

Sometime, due to vocational and convocational overload people may develop symptoms of osteoarthritis. This pattern is commonly found in factory labors and construction workers.

Obesity is another Risks factors for osteoarthritis, this pattern can be found in hand OA. The obesity plays a major role to develop symptoms of osteoarthritis as only a 5 kg weight loss has proven to lead to a 50 percent reduction in the odds of developing symptomatic knee OA.

The hazards of osteoarthritis include bleeding disorders like hemophilia or it may cause bleeding in the joint. If the osteoarthritis symptoms are complicated then it may cause persistent inflammatory arthritic conditions particularly chronic gout, pseudo gout or rheumatoid arthritis.

These are some risks factors for osteoarthritis and therefore, it becomes essential for people to take advice for physicians before they take any Osteoarthritis treatments. .  This will enable them to reduce hazards from Osteoarthritis. Additionally, developing a healthy life style and keeping yourself fit is the right way to prevent osteoarthritis.
