Cure for Greasy Hair:
A lot of people the world over have greasy hair. They might wash and condition their hair in the morning, and by evening, their hair looks limp and oily. If you have the same problem, then it’s likely that you have greasy hair and need to do something about it.
Note: Oil is produced naturally by the scalp to protect the shafts of hair from breaking. The oil is necessary to keep the scalp healthy and for that natural sheen. But sometimes the glands produce too much of oil that can make your hair look greasy. You might have greasy hair because:
- It runs in your family and is hereditary.
- Hormonal fluctuations can increase the greasiness of the hair. Women may experience excessive greasiness during periods, while teenagers with their surging hormones can also experience the same problem.
- If you have been using androgenic hormones, then your body might produce excessive oil.
- People with fine hair experience greasiness as their hair strands are thin and light, and less oil can turn the hair greasy.
- A diet that is partial to oily foods can cause greasiness too.
Home Remedies to Treat Greasy Hair:
Here are some simple tips to treat greasy hair:
- When you are shampooing your hair, make sure that you rinse thoroughly so that all the dirt, oil and shampoo get washed away.
- Do not use conditioners for sometime if you have greasy hair. Just use a bit of it on your hair ends if they look dry and brittle.
- Do not use several brushstrokes while combing your hair as with every stroke, some oil will get distributed through the hair.
- Use an acidic rinse to reduce the amount of oil and greasiness. Make one of your own with diluted lemon juice or vinegar. Rinse with this after shampooing and then rinse with tepid water.
- An alcoholic beverage like beer can also add that bounce to hair and make it look less greasy. Mix some with water and use this to rinse your hair. Then rinse your hair thoroughly with water.
- Make a mixture of cider vinegar and water. Pour this into a spray bottle and spray it onto your hair. After that, rinse with warm water. This is supposed to prevent a shampoo buildup.
- Diluted tea is rich in tannic acid and has astringent properties that can reduce oil. You might like to use this as a rinse.
