Remedies for Stomach Ache

Stomach aches occur mostly because of a faulty diet. When the digestive juices secreted by the inner walls of the stomach fail to digest food properly or completely, the abdominal region begins to hurt and one suffers from cramps and aches. Sometimes, the presence of intestinal worms can also cause stomach aches. The simplest way to avoid stomach aches is to take care of one’s diet. Always eat at fixed timings and never overeat. Try avoiding food that is too oily or spicy, and include plenty of raw fruits, vegetables and salads in your diet. They are natural sources of water, fiber and roughage, which make digestion of food easy and prevent stomach disorders. Also, drink at least 8-10 glasses of water every day in order to ensure that there is no build-up of excessive toxins in the digestive tract. Besides these general measures, you may also follow a few simple home remedies to treat stomach aches:

1. Take three parts of fresh tamarind leaves and one part of rock salt and grind them together by adding water till it becomes a paste. Consuming this mixture provides quick relief from stomach ache.

2. Substituting tamarind leaves with celery leaves in the above mentioned remedy is also helpful in treating stomach ache.

3. Grind some ginger and gently massage the abdominal area with this paste. This is an effective cure for cases of mild stomach ache.

4. Grate a radish finely and extract its juice. Now add to this the juice of a lemon and drink this solution after a heave meal in order to prevent stomach ache.

5. In a cup of lukewarm water mix a pinch of asafetida and a little rock salt and apply this solution on the abdomen to get instant relief from stomach ache.

6. Pomegranate seeds are known to be of great help in treating stomach ache. Either sprinkle pomegranate seeds with a little salt and black pepper and eat them raw, or extract the juice of pomegranate and drink this after every meal to prevent and cure stomach ache.

7. Another effective remedy is to mix the pulp of bael fruit in a glass of fresh buttermilk and drink this solution.

8. Soak a few raisins and some fennel seeds in half a liter of water overnight. Grind the ingredients the next morning and add a pinch of sugar to this solution. Drink this mixture every morning to treat chronic stomach ache.
