Tennis elbow, also referred to as lateral epicondylitis, is a very painful condition of the outer portion of the elbow and is characterized by the tendons getting inflamed due to which they become sensitive to touch. The tendons are connected with the bones that are situated right above the elbow joint. Because of this, the person has a lot of difficulty in lifting heavy weight and moving the hands in a flexible manner. An ice pack helps considerably to get relief from tennis elbow pain as well as reduce the swelling caused. An ice pack could be applied throughout the day each time for duration of 15 to 20 minutes.

Treatment for Tennis Elbow

You can also try massaging the elbow area with calendula oil two times in a day as it soothes the pain calming it down. Similarly, you can even apply avocado oil as it is known to ease out the pain. Zostrix, a hot pepper derivative, is said to be very beneficial and can be applied by tying it around the elbow joint. Heat packs are also a good option and can be applied several numbers of times during the course of the day. A potato pack is another great way to reduce pain and swelling in which case potatoes that are warm and baked can be kept around the painful area. Apart from the above mentioned home remedies, diet also plays a crucial in providing relief from tennis elbow. Celery should be consumed on a regular basis as it is known to help in treatment of rheumatism because their seeds contain some liquid that can be added to hot water. This water should then be consumed in about 5 to 10 drops before you eat you meals. Foods that are rich sources of omega 3 fatty acids are also very good for relief from tennis elbow.
