The Psoriatic arthritis is a chronic disease, which is characterized by inflammation of the skin and joints.  It is a common skin condition; the severity of this disease can be understood by the fact that nearly 2 percent population in the United States is affected by Psoriatic arthritis.   Therefore, it becomes essential to know more about symptoms of Psoriatic arthritis and its conditions.

The common symptoms of psoriatic arthritis include raised red areas of the skin and patchy.  It usually affects the elbows tips, knees, the navel, the scalp along with the anus or genital areas.  It has been found from the study that nearly 10 percent patients who have psoriatic arthritis also develop an associated inflammation of their joints. Patients suffer from inflammatory arthritis are also prone to develop psoriatic arthritis.

The causes of Psoriatic arthritis are still unknown and it may develop due to medical and genetic reasons. Sometimes, combinations of genetic and immune systems may develop symptoms of psoriatic arthritis. The common gene responsible for spine psoriatic arthritis is HLA-B27; moreover, there are several other genes responsible to develop symptoms of Psoriatic arthritis. The T-cell plays major role in immune system of human being and therefore due to lack of T-cells, people may develop symptoms of psoriatic arthritis. These conditions are also found in AIDS patients. Additionally, the infection agents and environment factors play major role in development of psoriatic arthritis

Patients those are suffering from psoriatic arthritis may develop inflammation of the tendons and tendonitis and around cartilage.  Therefore, the tenderness of the heel’s tendon leads to achiles tenditis causing pain while climbing stairs or while walking, along with this swelling occurs in the chest wall of the cartilage hat links and the ribs to the breastbone and this may also cause chest pain.

The treatment of the arthritis involves combination of both anti-inflammatory medicines and exercises.  In addition, if progressive inflammation and joint destruction occurs then it becomes essential for patients to take methotrexate, corticosteroids and antimalarial medications

Sometimes exercise programs are preferred for Psoriatic arthritis treatment and it may involve physical therapies and joint exercises. It is done with consultation of physiotherapists and doctors.  It may involve warm-ups and stretching exercises, ice applications and other techniques. However, if these exercises are not sufficient to give you relief from joint pain and cause severe soreness and inflammation then, it becomes essential to postpone exercise routine. Sometimes, hot shower and heat applications are useful to give relief from joint pain and soreness.
