Psoriasis Natural Cure
What is Psoriasis? Psoriasis is an auto-immune disease which affects the skin and joints. It is a chronic and non-contagious disease. Most often it causes red scaly patches on the skin that are called psoriasis plaques. There is inflammation and excessive skin production at various points and the skin develops silvery-white patches. Psoriasis mostly affects the skin on the elbows and knees, though it can affect any area including the nails, scalp, and genitals. It can range from mild and minor localized patches or become chronic and cover the whole body. Stress, depression, alcohol consumption, and smoking can aggravate psoriasis.
What are the Causes of Psoriasis? Although it is not clearly understood as to what causes psoriasis, it is believed that genetic components may play a major role. The main reason could be an accumulation of toxins in the body which is heightened by nutritional deficiencies. The toxins overload the liver and the kidneys in particular. They circulate in the blood and the body tries to remove them through the skin.
Psoriasis occurs more commonly in dry skin than in oily or well-moisturized skin. It can set off by an infection after an external skin injury, which leads to inflammation and causes itching and rapid skin re-growth. The infecting organism may absorb all the moisture from the skin and aggravate the problem.
Psoriasis Natural Cure: The natural cures for psoriasis are among the most effective of treatments. You may try Epsom salt baths which are a good treatment for psoriasis. Applying olive oil to skin after an Epsom salt bath is an effective natural treatment. Sea water baths or applying sea water on affected areas will also bring relief.
Mud baths are also a good natural cure for psoriasis, as they remove toxins from the skin. Sunlight is one of the best cures for psoriasis. You can also use cabbage leaves as a soothing compress after washing them thoroughly and removing the thicker parts. Oregano, a commonly used spice, has antibacterial and antifungal properties. Its oil helps to reduce psoriasis and alleviate the symptoms. Mix a spoon of turmeric powder to an aqueous cream and add a spoon of coconut milk to the mixture. Mix it well and apply this paste. Keep it on for at least 30 minutes and then shower as usual.
What changes should I make in my Diet? As the toxins affect the body it is essential to remove them through proper diet. Eat as many fresh fruits and vegetables as possible to cleanse the body. You may avoid wheat, rye, barley, and oats to prevent reactions due to food sensitivity. To supplement the lack of folic acid, vitamins, minerals, zinc, and calcium you should increase the intake of foods rich in these elements. You should also increase the intake of omega-3 fatty acids as it helps in the treatment of psoriasis. Once you find changes for the better in your body, you can add yogurt, goat milk, and cottage cheese to your diet. Try to avoid all animal fats.
