Propecia (Finasteride), FDA approved internal medicine, is an effective treatment for hair loss in men on the vertex and anterior mid-scalp area. It acts with the natural body chemistry to prevent the production of DHT (dihydrotestosterone) hormone that causes the hair loss. Propecia has been proved to be effective to prevent hair loss from further occurring and also improves the growth of scalp hair in about 80% of patients after 3-6 months. Propecia (Finasteride) for hair loss comes in a tablet form which is to be taken daily once. It can be taken after meals or empty stomach. A daily recommended dose is 1 mg. It may vary depending on the age and overall health. If you miss a dose and remember it next day, you may skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Avoid taking two doses at a time.
Propecia (Finasteride) for hair loss is not recommended for people with liver disease or it is suggested to have it in lower dose. Usually, Propecia is not applicable for the women pattern hair loss.
