Allergy Phlegm

Allergies can be caused by dust, pollen grains, exhaust fumes and other pollutants. Once the phlegm is formed, it becomes difficult to breathe with the nose and lungs getting clogged up. While there are several expectorants available commercially, they are best avoided as they only suppress the phlegm and accompanying cough instead of ejecting them from the body. The relief provided therefore is only temporary. Crush a few small onions and mix the juice with some honey. Consume this mixture throughout the day to clear the phlegm from the lungs. Mixing a little alum salt with honey and sucking it over the course of the day can cure allergy phlegm to some extent. Heat a little mustard oil and mix a teaspoon of rock salt in it. While still lukewarm, rub it all over the body and particularly the chest region to clear out the phlegm. Allergy phlegm has to be expectorated for the patient to feel some relief and this could be done by extracting the juice from basil leaves and mixing it with honey. The basil will liquefy the phlegm and ease its passage out of the body. A concoction can be made out of the juice from basil leaves, ginger and onion. A little honey should be added last of all and a spoon consumed thrice a day. This too will liquefy the allergy phlegm. If the throat feels sticky with phlegm, it would be advisable to drink a few glasses of hot water into which a lemon has been squeezed and a little salt added. Instead of the salt, honey can also be added for sweetness and for its curative properties. Consume a hand full of roasted gram before going to bed every day and follow it up with a glass of warm fat free milk. Heat some water and add a few drops of eucalyptus oil into it. Inhale the steam to clear the blockage in your nose and to liquefy the allergy phlegm. Make a paste by grinding cinnamon, ginger and carnation. Add a teaspoon or less of water to make a thick and consume twice a day with a little honey. Oranges are considered an excellent remedy to loosen up allergy phlegm and the slices could be soaked in wine overnight. Cook them in the morning till soft and eat them. The vitamin C in oranges is extremely beneficial for some form of allergies and the throat would also get cleared.
