Natural Remedies for Lice Nit

Lice are tiny and wingless parasitic insects that feed on blood. They spread due to close personal contact, and also sometimes by sharing your personal things. There are various types of lice that can be found. The most common one is however, head lice. Head lice develop on your head and they can be seen on the nape of your neck and over your ears as well. They take just about a week to hatch eggs and result in an increased number of lice. There are also body lice that can be found in the seams and folds of your clothes. They generally spread when you share infected clothing or bedding. Head lice usually do not carry any diseases but body lice are capable of transmitting disease like typhus. Finally, there are crab lice or pubic lice. These can be found on the skin and hair of your pubic area and sometimes, on your eyelashes too. Sexual contact, or close contact with infected clothing or even toilet seats can result in spreading pubic lice.

The worst thing that one has to deal with is lice nit removal. It needs a lot of patience even to the last egg on the scalp. Leaving even one egg or louse can result in re-infestation in just a few weeks. The best way to get rid of lice nits is to loosen them with oily hair products. You could just try to comb them through and remove them. You could also use a medicated shampoo and then use a fine toothed comb to remove the remaining lice or their nits. There are certain kinds of combs have been specially made to remove nits from your hair effectively. The best way of doing this is to comb your hair section wise so that the hair is not mixed up, and it is easier to remove the nits in this manner. Nits are the eggs of lice and the best thing to do with these eggs to keep them in a container filled with antiseptic or alcohol so as to ensure that they do not grow into more lice.

Removing nits from hair can take as much as three to four days. Therefore, it is important that you are patient and methodical in the entire process. A little carelessness can make the entire process useless and then you will have to go through it all over again. It is important to understand that all lice killing ingredients are pesticides and hence, you should avoid contact with the eyes or mouth. If anything gets into your eyes and mouth, you should wash them off with water immediately and maybe, if any irritation develops, consult a physician immediately.
