Natural Skin Toner - More about Skin Toning
Skin toning is a process that takes care of problems like complexion and the texture of skin. Naturally, your skin is endowed with a natural amount of color pigment called melanin. This skin pigment is really what dictates your natural skin color. However, the more you are exposed to the sun in your lifetime and especially the more severe the sun exposures, the more likely that you are going to end up with a skin tone that is permanently darker than what it started out as. The texture of your skin is something that is completely controlled by your genes, though even this can be disturbed by skin damage, a lack of moisturizing, and sometimes even disease.
To start with the problem of a darker complexion, the first thing that you need to do is to start staying away from the sun. This means covering yourself when the sun is out and even on a cloudy day. This is because skin tanning is something that occurs not due to visible light but rather because of ultraviolet light exposure. The ultraviolet rays of the sun hit the skin, and cause a chemical reaction called oxidative stress, which causes the melanin to darken. To reverse the results of this reaction, you need a bleach or reducing agent. Hydroquinone and retinol are some of the substances that you can find in most over the counter bleaching formulations. If you want to use the natural route then you can use substances like vitamin C, azelaic acid, and vitamin E. Skin texture correction is something that is time consuming and requires that you exfoliate and remove the dead skin layers that are built up in your body. This is best done with a combination of salicylic acid and an abrasive medium like sugar.
Toning Diet and Remedies
The first step is dietary. Start by consuming more wheat, rye and barley for azelaic acid, pomegranate, and sea food; all of these will reduce the amount of melanin produced in the skin. Next, start bleaching yourself with a combination of strawberry and lemon juice pulp. This will allow the reversal of oxidative stress. To exfoliate your skin, buy a solution of salicylic acid and wash with it once a week. This should be combined with an olive oil abrasion where you rub some olive oil on your face and then wipe it off with a cloth, applying a good amount of pressure to remove the loose, dead skin.
