1) The dietary fiber is not only instrumental in adding bulk to the stool but is also helpful in developing regular bowel contractions. Nutritionists and dieticians recommend a daily dose of approximately 30 to 35 grams of dietary fiber throughout the day in order to ensure smooth bowel operations. Any form of bran (wheat and rice bran) is the most effective and safe form of dietary fiber.
2) Adequate water is also important in restoring the smooth flow of bowel movements and doctors usually recommend four to five glasses of hot water in order to treat constipation.
3) A liver flush is highly recommended for patients with chronic constipation. Chronic constipation can lead to liver malfunction as the build up of toxins over the months / years can lead to a hindrance in the efficiency of the liver’s functions.
4) Include plenty of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables along with legumes, whole grain meals, nuts and nuts n your daily diet while eliminating refined food products such as white sugar and white flour. The foundation of a healthy diet and long term good health program is to ensure that you eat as much natural foods as possible and consume adequate water in order to treat constipation for life. Try to eliminate certain foods such as deep fried foods, foods high in saturated fats, foods rich in sugar, salty foods, all types of fast-food and junk food, and coffee as these foods are known to cause constipation.
5) Adding essential fats such as omega 3 or omega 6 can help in easing the condition. These essential fatty acids are found in natural foods such as Evening Primrose Oil, flaxseed oil, tuna fish, cod fish, black currant seed oil, and borage seed oil.
6) Inclusion of pro active bacteria is strongly advocated in order to rejuvenate and sustain good intestinal flora. Most laxatives and antibiotics that are used to treat constipation can cause the good bacteria in the intestines to get destroyed. Pro bacteria is abundant in curdled milk containing live cultures and must be had in the form of milk whey, kefir or buttermilk in order to increase the existence of friendly bacteria.
