Natural Remedies for Bruises
Bruises, cuts or wounds are the injuries on the skin that break its integrity. The skin serves to protect the internal organs and blood vessels from being exposed to the external environment while bruises or cuts lead to the exposure of the internal constituents of the body, like blood vessels, to the surroundings. This makes you susceptible to various infections and ailments.
Bruises lead to blood loss and also make you prone to a septic infection. All living beings have a natural mechanism or process to counter the effect of bruises, which is called blood clotting. Clotting is a gradual process and it takes time for wounds to heal. You must follow some remedies to restrict the blood loss and also to minimize the chances of infection while your clotting factor kicks in.
Natural Home Remedies for Bruising
Some of the natural remedies to cure bruises are:
• You must first clean the wound using an antiseptic lotion on a cotton swab. You may also clean the bruise with cold water. You must not use hot water to clean the bruise as hot water may enhance the pace of blood loss.
• You may use tea bags to stop the blood loss. Boil some tea bags, allow them to cool, and then place them on the bruises so as to stop bleeding in the wound.
• You may also use lavender essential oil to stop bleeding. You may dilute the essential oil with a carrier oil like jojoba or olive oil and then apply it on the wound.
• You can also use marjoram oil on the bruise.
• You may apply turmeric on the bruise. First grind the turmeric and apply this freshly grounder turmeric powder on the wound so as to prevent the invasion of germs on the wound, thereby averting the incidence of septic infection.
• You may grind some black coffee and apply it on the bruise and cover the wound with a bandage.
• You may also use lemon to stop the bleeding. However, lemon may cause inflammation and a burning sensation. If the inflammation is unbearable, you can wash the wound with cold water and discontinue this treatment.
• You may consume dried, powdered milkweed or silkweed root. This helps to relieve the more serious consequences of a bruise like fever, dropsy or excessive urination.
• You may also use herbs like salvia leaves to treat bruises. First chop the salvia leaves, place them on a bandage, and then apply them on the cut.
