Arthritis is a painful disorder that causes loss of movement in and inflammation to the joints. There are various home and natural remedies that can greatly control the painful symptoms of arthritis. In addition to the primary form of medication for treating arthritis, there are several alternatives that may help in treating the painful joint disease. However before starting off on any of these home remedies it is strongly advised to inform your qualify health practitioners as there are chances that certain home remedies may interfere with the primary form of medication. Certain types of raw juices are beneficial in treating arthritis. One of them is the juice of black cherries. In order to ease the painful symptoms, the juice of black cherries must be drunk twice a day diluted with an equal amount of water. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis must include plenty of foods that provide nutrients against inflammation. Anti-inflammatory nutrients include beta-carotene and copper which is abundantly found in carrots, parsley, apples, ginger broccoli and spinach. Pineapple juice is also highly recommended for patients with rheumatoid arthritis, as pineapples are rich sources of the enzyme bromelain which helps in easing and controlling inflammation.

Other useful juices in treating arthritis include carrots, celery, cabbage, potatoes, beets, cucumbers, fresh lemons, radish and garlic. In order to prevent adverse reactions with conventional medications for arthritis, inform your doctor before consuming the juices to prevent side-effects. Avoid citrus fruits and certain vegetables such as tomatoes peppers and brinjals and these contain psyllium alkaloids that may cause adverse reactions in patients with arthritis. Another popular home remedy that has been traditionally used for treating arthritis is alfalfa. In herbal concoction made from alfalfa is highly beneficial in relieving the painful symptoms of joint pain.

Angelica and Black Cohosh are other popular Western herbs used as muscle relaxants and for their healing properties as anti inflammatory agents. They also contain antispasmodic constituents and an herbal tea or herbal concoction made from the roots of these herbs is believed to bring about relief for patients with arthritis. Other important herbal forms of treatments include preparations made from Boswellia, ginseng, Stinging Nettle, Cucumber Bark, Willow, Yucca, Celery, Devil’s claw, Epsom Salt, Feverfew, and ginger among others. Herbal teas made from any of these medicinal herbs are known to bring relief to the inflammation caused by arthritis. However, be sure to consult with you doctor before you decide to go ahead and begin consuming any of these herbal preparations.
