In order to find an effective remedy for the problem of acid reflux, you need to attack the basic problem if acidity. Acidity occurs due to unhealthy and irregular eating patterns and a poor digestive system which is unable to cope with the same. To begin with you need to stop consumption of highly acidic foods. This would include spicy, oily and high salt food as well as caffeine and all caffeine-related products. You need to also switch to being a vegetarian for a few days. Cut back on meat and eggs, as these are relatively tougher to digest and will only aggravate your problem. You have to look at ways of bringing down the internal temperature of your body, and this can be accomplished by eating light. Fresh curd is the best thing for acid reflux; it will cool your system and the active live bacteria in it will help to get rid of and neutralize the excessive acidity. Among the fruits you must have in large quantities are fresh apples and figs. Both of these are particularly useful in fighting acidity. Have as many as you can, accompanied with cold or cool milk. This will be of great help in your situation. You should try and stay away from all citrus fruits as they are all extremely high in citric acid and will only add to your acidity.

You should also try to add to your intake of chilled milk and all milk products to help in removing acidity. For coffee lovers, the best option is to have chilled milk to which you can add instant coffee. Fresh brewed coffee is just not acceptable if you are suffering from acid reflux. You should also try to drink large amounts of water to help fight the excessive acidity. Water will work as an excellent neutralizer. You should have green tea, which has exceptional properties to help fight acid reflux as well as reduce hyper acidity. You can also chew on a piece of dry ginger all day to help with the acidity problem. You should also make it a point to stay far away from alcohol and cigarettes, both of which will always aggravate your acidity. A basic amount of exercise is also required for your body to produce less amounts of acid that it would if you were leading a totally sedentary life. Try going for a walk everyday for about 30 minutes.
