Natural Home Treatments for Flatulence
Belching is a common reaction to help relieve a buildup of excess gas in the stomach. While it is quite often embarrassing, for the large part, belching is not a something that requires any medical attention. Belching is most commonly caused by two reasons. The first being when an individual swallows large amounts of air. This can be done quite regularly when performing regular actions like drinking water or other liquids too fast, gulping your food as well as talking while you eat. The other avenue that can cause belching is the excessive intake of raw fruit, vegetables and bran as well as by drinking gaseous or aerated drinks like beer and soda which gives rise to gas in the stomach that needs to be released. Belching can also be caused by excessive stress and food allergies. If the case becomes chronic, you might want to see a doctor to help diagnose and identify what the underlying cause for chronic belching is. To avoid belching, it is important to chew your food properly before swallowing. When associated with carbonated beverages, do not drink through a straw. Avoid foods items like onions and chocolates as they are known to increase the tendency to belch. Reducing stress and following a healthy exercise regime will go a long was in avoiding constant belching.
Farting, or flatulence, is another common way to get rid of gaseous substances not required by the body. The gas emitted from the anus is largely produced by symbiotic bacteria and yeasts found in the gastrointestinal tract and is usually released with some amount of pressure and a foul odor. As with belching, one of the major causes of flatulence is the swallowing of excess air. Other prime contributors are: an excessive consumption of fibrous foods, the presence of excessive amounts of bacteria in the intestines as well as food and water that may be prepared under unhygienic conditions. A few home remedies for flatulence that will help with the situation are: mix 2 teaspoons of brandy with a cup of warm water and drink this before going to bed, after your meals try chewing on fresh ginger slices which are soaked in lime juice. You could also try grinding 1 teaspoon of pepper, 1 teaspoon of dry ginger and 1 teaspoon of green cardamom seeds. After every meal, add ½ teaspoon of this mixture to water and drink the concoction.
