Menstrual Cycle Pain
Menstrual cycle pain, or dysmenorrhea, is a pain or cramps that women experience before or during menstruation. This pain is caused mainly due to an endocrine imbalance, which is experienced by a lot of women. It could be either a sharp and intermittent pain or a constant dull, aching pain. In addition, women who experience menstrual cycle pain also tend to show symptoms of abdomen pain, irritability, fatigue, backache and nausea during the menstruation cycle. In some rare cases, the pain is so strong, that one may be rendered incapable of doing the easiest of daily chores for a few days during the menstruation cycle. More often than not, the cause for this pain is the over secretion of a chemical called prostaglandin in the body during the menstrual cycle. If the pain persists and is unbearable despite medications, it is advisable to opt for medical supervision to rule out any further complications. In most cases though, a few simple home remedies can take care of the pain and make the menstrual cycle much more bearable for you.
One of the most effective remedies to relieve menstrual cycle pain is ginger. Take a piece of fresh ginger and grind it well. Now add it to a cup of water and let it boil for fifteen minutes. Drinking this tea thrice each day after every meal will eliminate the menstrual cycle pain almost immediately. Another excellent home remedy is the use of coriander seeds. Take about 6 grams of coriander seeds and boil them in half a liter of water. Continue boiling till only half the quantity of seeds, are left behind as residue. Drinking this concoction 2 to 3 times a day also goes a long way in healing the pain that accompanies your menstrual cycle. An olive oil massage is another efficient cure. Take some olive oil and gently massage your stomach and lower abdomen using your fingertips. Lie down on your stomach for 15 minutes and you will find the pain visibly reduced.
Eating a banana as soon as you experience the pain is also believed to alleviate it. So is the case with yogurt. Incorporating yogurt into the daily diet has worked wonders in completely curing menstrual cycle pain. Eating cooked rice for a few days before your monthly period begins is also a helpful remedy in reducing the accompanying pain. You could also take some oregano leaves and boil them in water for about 15 minutes. Allow it to cool and further strain the liquid. Drink this mixture at least thrice a day to reduce the pain.
