Loading ...When the ovaries stop to make eggs, menopause sets in. A female generally has 1 to 3 million eggs in her ovaries, at the time of her birth. There is gradual decrease in the number of eggs right throughout her life.
During the first menstrual period of female, averagely 400,000 eggs are available in her ovaries. However, during menopause, less than 10,000 eggs are available in the ovaries. In addition, there is a decrease in the percentage of eggs through regular ovulation like the monthly cycle. During a process like atresia, most of these eggs get disintegrated.
It is natural when Menopause arises between the ages of 45 and 55 and it is considered to be a regular part of aging. However, in some cases, the women have to face menopause at very early age. It is caused because of surgical intrusion, like hysterectomy, injury to the ovaries, which is caused due to chemotherapy. Such occurrence of menopause that occurs before the age of 45 is called as premature menopause.
Vaginal and oral treatments are available for curing the symptoms, which occur due to insufficiency of vaginal estrogen. This vaginal treatment consist of the cream for vaginal estrogen, ring of vaginal estrogen or vaginal estrogen pills.
The Oral treatments comprise numerous types of estrogen or estrogen given with progesterone. Both of these menopause-curing treatments are effective in reducing vaginal symptoms and sometimes combined to cure such symptoms.
However, for certain women these oral or vaginal estrogens are not suitable and harmful who are suffering from breast cancer. Women who do not like to receive oral or vaginal estrogen, variety of vaginal lubricants are used as a replacement for such treatment.
