Menopause is a phase that occurs in every woman’s life when menstrual cycle ceases. Having menopause is perfectly normal and is considered to be a vital phase of every woman’s life. Almost all women experience menopause between the ages of 55 to 60 years. If ovaries are surgically removed or you have ovarian damage because of numerous cancer treatments then this can lead to premature menopause.

Estrogen and progesterone are the 2 main hormones in a woman’s body. These hormones are produced primarily in the ovaries. They play a very important role in controlling menstrual cycle. The production of these 2 hormones considerably reduces at the time of menopause. This gives rise to an unpleasant imbalance which is termed as hormone imbalance. Hormone imbalances and internal chemical imbalances are key causes of menopause.

Progesterone deficiency, lack of experience, stress, exposure to some harmful chemicals, obesity and poor diet are some of the other causes of menopause.

All the above factors give rise to menopausal symptoms such as increased body fat, irritability, depression, fluid and salt retention, low sex drive, headaches, blood clotting, memory problems such as forgetfulness, night sweats, hot flashes, sleep disturbances such as insomnia, breast cancer, urinary tract infections. If you are facing any of these problems, you should immediately consult a doctor. Neglecting these problems may worsen your health. Excessive alcohol consumption may also lead to menopause symptoms.

There are many health risks if menopausal symptoms are neglected. Hair loss is commonly seen in women. There are many natural remedies that can control menopausal symptoms. Intake of some herbs, vitamins and other nutrients can help to control menopause. Some also use hormone replacement therapy to control menopause symptoms. But this therapy has some negative side effects and should be avoided. Although there are many causes of menopause proper treatment will significantly reduce the symptoms of menopause.
