Maternity Acupressure Points
Acupressure is one of the most prominent Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) techniques and is based on the acupuncture technique. Acupressure is a traditional healing method which involves the pressing of key points on the fingers and other parts of body so as to stimulate the natural healing powers of the body. When these key points, referred to as acupressure points, are pressed, any muscular tension is released which leads to increased blood circulation. Acupressure works along the meridian pathways. There are twelve pathways including the spleen, bladder, gall bladder, heart, and kidney, to name a few.
Acupressure helps relieve pain, raises blood circulation, reduces stress, and provides a soothing effect to the body. Acupressure therapists advocate the presence of some sort of invisible energy in the body that flows along the blood stream of the body. This energy is referred to as “Qi” by the Chinese, who are attributed with the invention of this miraculous technique called acupressure. Acupressure points are the points which are prone to Qi blockages and as such, exerting pressure on these points in specific ways helps restore the normal flow of this energy, thereby creating a steady state in the body.
