Arthritis results in the pain of the joints; the pain is accompanied with inflammation. The pain can subside in few weeks but in some cases it might take years. Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) is prevalent among those falling between the age group of 6 months to 16 years.
The joints swells, becomes red and warm and one experiences unbearable pain.
There are three types of Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA): Polyarticular arthritis, Pauciarticular JRA and Systemic JRA.
In systemic JRA the joints of the diseased swells, gets stiffened and there are rashes on the body which keeps on appearing and disappearing. The entire body gets affected here; it is often accompanied with fever.
In Polyarticular arthritis joints like hips, ankles, neck and feet are affected; pain is there in five or more joints of the body. Mild fever and development of bumps on the portion of the body where pressure is applied are its common characteristic.
Pauciarticular JRA also causes pain and stiffness in the joints but here not more than four joints are affected. Iris inflammation is its distinguished characteristic.
The pain is intense and in most of the cases unbearable; it is often accompanied by fever. Rashes develop on the body which appears and disappears abruptly. Proper medical treatment is a must for the child; in extreme cases corticosteroids are provided when the pain is too intense.
First get the confirmation that the pain is only due to arthritis then go for any treatment. Once the diagnosis is done you can take the medication as recommended by the doctor. Never ever try to ignore the symptoms, the moment you feel the problem visit a doctor.
