Avoid harsh chemicals on your head:
One of the best ways to prevent dandruff is to avoid using harsh chemicals on your scalp. This includes cheap shampoos and conditioners that do nothing but dry out your skin as well as perms and colors. When you use these products, they can dry out your scalp and cause the itching and flaky skin that is dandruff.
Eat a good diet:
You have heard it before, but it is true. What you put in your body reflects on the outside of your body. If you are eating poorly, then you can certainly be a target for dandruff. Make sure that you are eating fresh fruits and vegetables and that you drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated is key when you want healthy skin. Take a vitamin supplement while you are at it, too.
Avoid stress:
Oftentimes, avoiding stress is easier said than done, but did you know that stress can affect the health of your head and skin? Try to reduce the stress in you life whenever possible and you may see a big difference in the look and feel of your skin.
Practice good hygiene:
It may seem simple, but practicing good hygiene can prevent dandruff, too. Wash regularly, and make sure you rinse all of the shampoo out of your hair during each wash. Comb or brush your hair a couple of times a day to comb out dead skin cells. Avoid wearing hats all the time, too. This can cause build up on your scalp, especially if the hat is dirty and sweaty much of the time.
