Migraine with Aura Remedies:

A migraine headache is a convulsive ailment, which is accompanied by a very severe headache. This condition is linked with disorders or problems of vision, digestion and the liver. Migraine headaches can at times, also occur due to immense mental stress and tension. A sudden migraine attack could often occur on account of overworked or over burdened muscles in the neck and head due to prolonged stress. These tightened muscles then squeeze the arteries causing the blood flow to fall. Then, when a person relaxes suddenly, there is an expansion of the tightened muscles, which then stretch the walls of the blood vessels. The blood that is pumped with every heartbeat pushes these vessels further, then causing an immense amount of pain. The symptoms of an ordinary migraine are stiff neck, laziness, irritability, weakness, problem in concentrating and confused thinking.

In addition to the normal migraine there is something known as a migraine with aura. Around fifteen percent of individuals that suffer from migraines get a warning signal before the onset of the head ache. They basically undergo an alteration in the brains function known as an aura. This is normally a visual symptom or sign, such as a C shaped arc made up of sparkling lights, blurred vision, zigzag lines or a combination of both. However any other type of symptom could also occur, namely weakness, numbness of the hands and face, altered consciousness and unsteadiness. Here are a few home remedies that can help in dealing with this condition. Take a few cabbage leaves and crush them. Wrap them in a piece of cloth and then place it on the forehead for 15 minutes. This should help in reducing the pain. Lemon crust when ground and applied to the forehead as a paste has also been found to cure migraines.

Drinking juice made from fresh grapes has also been found to be useful for this condition. Niacin is considered to be an excellent remedy for migraines. This vitamin can be found in fish, liver, sunflower seeds, nuts, tomatoes, green leafy vegetables, whole wheat and bread. To prevent migraines one should avoid food such as sauces, condiments, pickles, preserved or tinned foods, sweets, pastries, rich cakes, greasy foods, sugar, products made from white flour and refined vegetables. Carrot juice in combination with cucumber, beet and spinach juice is also a good migraine treatment. Yoga exercises, especially yoga breathing exercises are very useful in preventing this type of migraines.
