Home Remedies for Candidiasis
Candidiasis is the infection that is caused by certain types of microscopic yeast or fungi. More than 20 different species of Candida are known to be present, of which Candida albicans is the most common. These microorganisms live on the surface of our bodies and are normally inactive and dormant. However, at times there may be certain conditions that arise, which enable these organisms to multiply and become numerous, leading to an infection. Yeast infections, diaper rash, thrush and nailbed are all various examples of infections that are caused by these fungi. Candidal infections generally occur in warm and moist areas of the body, an environment that helps the organisms thrive. Our skin normally prevents these organisms from entering the body, but there may be times, that a cut or break in the skin may allow for them to penetrate into the body. The symptoms of a candidal infection will vary depending on the location of the infection.
Candida can easily treated at home if one has to follow a few simple home remedies. Cranberry juice is known to have anti-bacterial properties. It is often recommended by doctors for the treatment of candida. Drink at least 2-3 glasses of the juice daily, its healing properties will get rid of the infection effectively. Garlic too has a lot of anti-bacterial properties and can be used to cure this condition. Take a few garlic pods and grind them into a paste. Take a gauze pad and wrap the mashed garlic in it. Place this pad on the infected area for a minimum of 30 minutes. Repeating this procedure daily will help you get rid of the infection within a week’s time. Apple cider vinegar can be added to your bath water daily; about 1 cup added to your bath water should do the job. This will provide relief from the itching and will soothe your skin as well.
Yogurt can also be utilized to get rid of this form of infection as well. Apply a small quantity of yogurt directly on the affected area and let it sit for around 10-15 minutes, after which rinse it off with cold water. Lavender oil and aloe vera gel too, can be applied directly on the infection in the same manner; it is known to work well. If none of these remedies work for you and the infection seems to be getting worse, then consult your physician immediately.
