Acid reflux is generally faced by people who suffer from hyper acidity. There are a variety of methods that you can use to control this problem with your diet alone. A good start would be making a few basic changes in your regular everyday diet to start you off.

How to Prevent Acid Reflux

Your first step would be to eliminate all spice from your food, and while this could be unpleasant for some time, it will make an almost instant difference to your acidic lining. It is good to be aware that one of the primary causes of acid reflux is also eating excessively spicy food. Your next step will be to remove fried food from your diet. Even if you are eating this occasionally, you need to get rid of it altogether. Do not try to do this overnight – a slower and systematic approach will be better for you. You are advised to eat light meals for the duration of at least a week or two before you can take a successful as well as positive step towards a permanent cure for this annoying problem. You should try and stick to salads and sandwiches as opposed to meat and fast food. This will make a major difference and will also be extremely helpful in general health improvement.

Another addition to your diet should be fresh and unflavored yogurt. This will help to soothe your acidic digestive tract and the active live bacteria in yogurt will also be useful in reducing acidity, since these bacteria feed off the excessive acid content. You should also be drinking at least 6 liters of water every single day. An efficient way of doing this is to buy and keep filled bottles of water and finish them one by one as the day progresses. This way, you will also have a good count of how much you have consumed. This will help by diluting the excessive acid development in your digestive tract and will also flush excess toxins and acids out of your body through urine. You should also make it a rule to not eat anything after 9 pm. try to finish with dinner beforehand, as eating late will always cause acidity due to indigestion. Please do keep in mind that there is no one time cure for the problem of acid reflux. This is a constant work in progress and the problem will recur if you let your diet and lifestyle slide.
