Home Remedies for Yeast Infections
Candidiasis is commonly called yeast infection or thrush and is a fungal infection of any of the candida species, the most common being albicans. Candidiasis include infections that are superficial such as oral thrush and vaginitis, to severe ones which are life threatening and are confined to persons who suffer from cancer and HIV/AIDS. Most of the yeast infections are treatable and result in minimal complications like redness, itching, and discomfort. It is generally a localized infection affecting the skin or mucosal membranes of the oral cavity, urinary bladder, or the vagina or male genitals.
What Causes Candidiasis? Yeast infection occurs when there is an imbalance in the existence of the fungus. This could be caused by the widespread use of antibiotics, steroids, or certain birth control pills which cause the beneficial bacteria to be destroyed and permit the fungus to thrive. Vaginal thrush can happen if the vagina is often exposed to semen, which can affect the acidic balance causing infection. Wearing tight clothing like jeans will disrupt the breathing of that area bringing about infection. Another factor which contributes to the infection is when women go through hormonal changes during pregnancy and prior to menstruation. At times the products which are used to keep the vagina clean are the ones that cause infection as they maybe too harsh. It can also be caused due to diabetes or a weakened immune system.
What are the Remedies? You might look for quick- fix medication for yeast infection, but natural remedies are far better as they widely regarded as being a lot safer. Dab some apple cider vinegar in the areas prone to infection. You can add garlic to stop the itchy feeling and water to dilute the vinegar concentration. Curd or yogurt is an excellent home remedy for yeast infection. You can apply curd in the infected areas or soak tampons in curd and place it in the infected area for at least an hour.
Drinking buttermilk every day is also a great way to keep away from infection. You can add a few pieces of onion, salt, and a little cilantro for flavoring. In addition, onion will help purify your body of toxins. You may also try a mixture of olive leaf extract with grapefruit seed extract and a glass of water as tonic for this infection.
Wear loose fitting clothes; avoid tight clothing including tight underwear, jeans, pantyhose, and acrylic garments. Try not to remain in wet clothes and get into dry clothes as soon as possible. Dry the affected parts before changing. Follow a healthy diet and keep fit.
