Natural Remedy for Yeast Infection

Yeast or Candida generally live in our body, just like various other types of organisms and bacteria do. However when there is a alteration in our body, such as a change in acidity levels due to an infection, diabetes or antibiotics, the balance maintained by these organisms is disrupted. They then multiply causing a yeast infection. Yeast cells are present in the vagina as well. However the acidic environment present in the vagina limits the availability of nutrients that are required by these cells to multiply, thus keeping them under control. In women suffering from diabetes the vaginal secretions tend to contain more sugar or glucose, on account of higher levels of the same in the blood. This excess glucose helps nourish the yeast cells, making them multiply and eventually leading to a yeast infection.

This kind of an infection can cause a lot of irritation or itching in the area surrounding the vagina along with foul odor as well as pain while urinating.

Here are few home remedies that will help you get rid of yeast infection. Take half a cup of apple cider vinegar and dilute it by adding half a cup of water. Use this mixture to wash the affected area daily. This will stop the itching as well as prevent the further growth of an infection. You could also use the extracts of olive leaves and grapefruit seeds. Mix equal proportions of the two extracts and use it to wash the area daily. Honey is a very effective antibacterial. Apply half a teaspoon of honey on the infected area and leave it for 15 minutes, after which you will need to rinse the area with warm water. Tea tree oil is also very helpful when it comes to treating yeast infections. Take a cotton tampon and soak it in some tea tree oil. Insert the tampon at night and remove it the next morning. This will have to be done for about 3-4 days to get rid of the infection.

Vitamin E oil and aloe vera oil together can bring a lot of relief from yeast infection. Mix a teaspoon of each and gently apply on the agitated area. Fill your bathtub with water (preferably warm), next add a cup of salt and about ½ cup of vinegar to the water. Soak yourself in the water for 30 minutes. The concoction will act as a cleansing agent. And finally try and stick to cotton underwear as opposed to nylon or polyester ones.
