What are Warts

Warts are embarrassing skin conditions which are caused by the human papilloma virus family, also known as HPC. There are about sixty known types of HPV. Warts are benign growths on the skin and may appear singly or in clusters. Warts can be classified as common, plantar, or genital warts. Home remedies can cure almost all these types of warts.

Common warts appear anywhere on the body but most often on the face, hands, finger elbows, forearms, and on the skin around the nails. Most often they are triggered by constant friction, abrasion or trauma. These warts are raised or flat, moist or dry, and have rough and pitted surfaces. They can be as small as a pinhead or larger. They are contagious and usually spread through breaks in the skin. They are painless and can spread through shaving.


Home Remedies for Warts

There are a number of home remedies for warts on the face. Let us take a look at some of them.

• Apply aloe vera juice everyday to dissolve the warts and also tone the skin.

• Apply extracts from fruits containing proteolytic enzymes that digest and dissolve the warts like pineapple, papaya, figs and banana peel.

• Apply fresh plant saps of figs or its concentrates to remove warts.

• The fresh milky sap of the leaf or stem of the milkweed can be applied everyday directly on the warts to remove them. It does not irritate nor affect the normal skin.

• Rub potato slices on the affected areas many times during the day for about two weeks to make the warts fade away.

• Apply castor oil generously on the warts before going to bed every night. This will shrink the warts and also enrich the skin against it.

• Cut onions are an excellent remedy for warts. Rub it on the warts. Though it irritates the skin it helps in circulation of the blood and make warts disappear.

• The milk of dandelion taken from its end is highly beneficial for treating warts. Apply thrice a day for excellent results.

• Marigold is also efficient in healing warts.

• Cashew nut oil extracted from its shell is effective in removing warts. Although it is strong skin irritant, it can be applied directly on the warts.

• Dip a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar and place it on the wart and tape it with band-aid.

• Another remedy that can help in removing warts is salicylic acid, which can be applied after a bath or shower when the skin is softer. This aids in the absorbing the salicylic acid deeper into the skin.

• Using a duct tape or laser treatment also helps in removing warts.

• Increase your intake of foods rich in sculpture such as asparagus, citrus fruits, garlic, eggs and onions to your boost immune system and ward off warts.
