Conjunctivitis is also characterized by a yellowish discharge, watering of the eyes and severe itchiness. The use of cosmetics, the common cold and exposure to dust also frequently causes pink eyes. Pink eyes is contagious and it is therefore crucial to maintain good personal hygiene. The infection may spread from one eye to the other if you don’t wash your hands regularly. It is also important not to share towels, make up and other personal articles as the condition spreads through personal contact. Make sure you remove all eye make up before going to bed to avoid causing irritation and infection of the eyes. Wash your eyes to remove the discharge caused by pink eyes using one part of baby shampoo and five parts of water. Natural Cures For Pink Eye

There are several ways to care for conjunctivitis at home. A cold compress on your eyes provides immediate relief from pain and inflammation. You can also place cotton swabs soaked in saline solution over your eyes to cure the infection. Prepare a natural eyewash at home using chamomile flowers. Boil the flowers in a cup of water and strain the solution to use it as an eyewash. Elderberry blossom tea is another effective eyewash for treating conjunctivitis. You can also use a solution made from fennel seeds and water. Boil the fennel seeds in the water and use the solution to wash your eyes. It reduces pain, inflammation and redness immediately. Warm milk as a compress or as an eyewash is effective in curing pink eyes. A solution of water and turmeric will help disinfect the area and enable it to heal faster.
Raw potato is an effective cure for pink eyes. Grate a raw potato and apply it directly on your eyes or make a poultice to apply on your eyes. A slice of raw potato placed over the infected eye also helps cure pink eyes. Applying aloe vera on your eyes will help reduce the itchiness and inflammation caused by pink eyes. Placing a used tea bag on your eyes may help drain the infection and soothe your eyes. Applying fresh yogurt on your eyes provides immediate relief from inflammation and itchiness.
