Eczema: Eczema means ‘to boil’ in Greek. Like the meaning, eczema is a skin condition in which, the skin gets inflamed and pustules are formed. Eczema is typically characterized by flakiness, dryness, redness, and itching. Eczema can also be known as atopic dermatitis, and it generally affects the upper chest, face, neck, arms, wrists and back of the knees.

Eczema is generally caused because of nutritional deficiencies, cold and dry weather, faulty metabolism, toxins in the body, varicose veins or allergies. Home Remedies for Eczema:

• Try applying coconut oil to keep your skin soft and prevent it from itching.

• You may even apply a mudpack over the affected area for relief.

• Some believe that sunbathing can kill harmful bacteria present in the layers of dry skin and cure eczema.

• Make a paste with a spoonful of camphor and a spoonful of sandalwood powder. Apply this on the affected patch for relief.

• You can opt for water treatments too and use methods like cold wet fomentations and cold compress. Reapply the compress once it has warmed up.

• Make a paste with a spoonful of turmeric and bitter Margo leaves. This healing paste can be applied to the area affected by eczema.

• Minimize the use of chemicals and soaps that might make your skin dry and itchy. Use soaps that are specifically suited for people with eczema.

• Make a paste by rubbing nutmeg on a smooth stone. Add a few drops of water to the paste and use this home made ointment on the affected areas.

• You can even rub the juice of the spearmint leaf to the affected areas to treat eczema.

• Make a pulp of almond leaves mixed with water, and use the ointment to treat eczema.

• Boil about two hundred grams of mustard oil in a vessel made of iron. Add about fifty grams of clean Margosa leaves to the oil and boil till the leaves turn black. Then, remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool, before straining it. Apply this oil on the affected areas a few times a day on a regular basis to effectively treat eczema.

• You can also mash the seeds of papaya and apply it on the skin to stop the itching.

• It is believed that muskmelon and carrots can be used to treat eczema too.
