Home Remedies For Dry Skin
Dry skin condition is a result of inadequate oil production in the skin glands. Environmental factors like humidity and exposure to sun and pollution may also affect the dryness of the skin. Nutritional deficiency and other skin diseases may make your skin dry. Sometimes, the cosmetics you use are also responsible for your dry skin. Dry skin, besides feeling unpleasant, can also give rise to several other skin diseases. Therefore, it is important to take proper care of your dry skin.
The most common remedy for dry skin is to regularly apply a moisturizing cream on your skin. You can also use olive oil or almond to massage on your skin regularly. For the best result, you should apply these oils before going to sleep and leave them overnight. Another good moisturizer can be made at home by mixing honey in milk. Apply this mixture on your skin about an hour before you have a shower. This will rejuvenate the skin by helping to generate new cells. Fruit pulps can also be made into a lotion and applied on the body to remedy dry skin. Mash any one or more of these fruits: ripe banana, mango, avocado, apricot, and grapes, and then mix it with milk and honey. This pulpy lotion will work well as a dry skin remedy. Oatmeal is another good remedy for dry skin problems. Mix oatmeal with egg yolk and apply it on your skin. Oatmeal will scrub off the dry and dead skin and make the skin surface smoother. You can also apply a mixture of cooked oatmeal and honey on your skin. A mixture of yoghurt, honey, and egg is another effective remedy for dry skin. Apply this mixture on the skin, let it dry up, and then wash off with cold water. Massaging your skin with Aloe Vera gel also can help remedy dry skin problems.
Apart from home remedies for dry skin, you should also make some changes to your diet and lifestyle. Eat lots of fresh vegetables and fruits with every meal. Drink plenty of water in a day so that the skin remains hydrated and healthy. Avoid alcohol, smoking, and caffeinated drinks as far as possible. Processed foods and other ready-to-eat items are also better avoided. Make some changes to your lifestyle so that you can cut down on stress and make sure that you get enough sleep daily. Take up some mild exercise everyday so that the sweat glands on your skin remains active. And finally, be careful when choosing skin care products and only use those that are suitable for dry skin.
