Natural Cure for Bone Spur
Bone spurs or osteophytes are an abnormal growth of bone tissue that occurs on the limbs. They can even occur in the spine as a normal result of aging and bone degradation. Osteophytes on any part of the body are an indication of a deeper problem that is usually arthritis. Arthritis is a related disease in which the ligaments of the joints wear off or degrade as part of the autoimmune disorder. The loss of ligament causes friction between the bones and eventually the bones completely wear down. This is a case of osteoarthritis. The other form of arthritis is rheumatoid arthritis and is even more severe with joints sometimes clubbing together.
An osteophyte can be quite a painful condition in the feet as the tissues and nerves above the osteophyte can be pressured and injured by the pointy spur. Sometimes the incorrect deposit of bone tissue and its calcification is a chief cause of a bone spur developing. Bone formation in the body is done in a process that is similar to sculpting. There are two cells that perform this process osteoblasts and osteoclasts. One cell sequesters calcium from the blood and deposits it in the required areas while the other type of cells will dissolve calcium from the bone back to the blood; thereby, reshaping the bone. This process also causes a lot of problems for people suffering from arthritis, as the incorrect repair of bone after the loss of ligaments further aggravates the problem of inflammation and pain.
Treating bone spur has a lot to do with the amount of calcium in the blood. It has been theorized that the deficiency of calcium in the body leads to these conditions. Calcium is not just used for bone tissue and teeth in the body, but is also an important cellular component of nearly every cell in the body. When the levels of available calcium in the blood drop, the body requisitions the blood for more calcium. The only place in the body where free calcium exists is in bones. Gradually, the leeching away of calcium from the bone causes the eruption of a spur. Therefore, it has been postulated that the best way to treat this condition is to start taking calcium supplements. This is because as we grow older, our ability to absorb calcium from food decreases substantially. Therefore, concentrated amounts are required as a supplement to gain fast relief from osteophytes.
