Asthma Remedies and COPD Risk Factors
Asthma and COPD
COPD is the abbreviation for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which indicates a condition in which the chambers of the lungs gradually become constricted, and make the passage of air through them increasingly difficult. Commonly known as asthma, this condition initially causes coughing, wheezing, an uncomfortable tight feeling in the chest, and occasional attacks of breathlessness. Factors like the presence of dust, smoke, pollen or animal hair in the immediate surroundings, chemical additives or allergens in food, changes in weather, and emotional turbulence can trigger an asthmatic attack. If left untreated, such attacks may become more frequent and intense, and may seriously hamper normal day-to-day activities like walking, playing, exercising and household chores.
Simple Home Remedies For Asthma
There are a few measures that you should follow to deal with this problem. Hot steam baths that make you perspire are believed to relieve congestion in the lungs and reduce the chances of asthma attacks. Grind a radish with two tablespoons of honey and the juice of fresh lemon by putting all the ingredients in a blender. Gently heat this paste on a low flame for 15-20 minutes, and store it in a container once it cools down to room temperature. Consume a teaspoon of this paste twice a day to treat asthma. You may also boil 4-5 cloves in a large cup of water and then add a teaspoon of honey to it, and drink the solution thrice a day. Another effective home remedy for asthma is to soak a few raisins in water overnight, and then in cold milk for half an hour the next morning, and eat this at breakfast. You should also boil a couple of garlic cloves in a cup of milk, and drink this decoction every day. Also, mix a teaspoon of turmeric powder in a glass of milk, and drink this solution thrice a day to treat asthma. A mixture of a teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm water is also useful in this regard. Holding a jar of honey under the nose of the patient during an asthma attack is also a popular remedy for easing respiration within a few minutes. You should also massage the patient’s back and chest with a mixture of a pinch of camphor, and some mustard oil. This brings quick relief from the tight feeling in the chest. In addition, consume a mixture of one teaspoon each of black pepper, dry ginger powder and molasses of honey every day to treat asthma naturally.
