Diet, Vitamins for Anemia:

Anemia is a condition that is brought about, when an individual has a low count of red blood cells or hemoglobin. Red blood cells are entrusted with the responsibility of transporting oxygenated blood to various parts of the body, thus, it is but obvious that a reduction in the count of these cells will have serious repercussions on one’s health. Our bone marrow is responsible for the production of red blood cells. Each red blood cell has an average life span of about 120 days, after which it dies and is then replaced by a new cell. This process of regenerating new cells may at times get hampered on account of two conditions, one when there is an excessive destruction or loss of blood or second when there is a decrease in the production of hemoglobin or red blood cells.

Anemia can be brought about by a large number of factors, some of which are; illness, poor diet, stress and anxiety, iron deficiency and severe blood loss. Headaches, breathlessness, fatigue, dizziness, confusion, chest pain, paleness and chest pains are some of the symptoms associated with this condition. Here are a few home remedies that can help in treating this condition. Iron deficiency is one of the main reasons for this condition, thus ensure that you consume plenty of this mineral on a daily basis. Apples in particular, are a rich source of iron; eating 2-3 apples a day will prove to be beneficial. Additionally, prunes, raisins, molasses, lentils, brown rice, oysters, bran flake, dried fruits, beets and green leafed vegetables are all excellent sources of iron too, including them in your dietary regime is recommended.

While people suffering from this condition are advised to increase their intake of iron, Vitamin C is equally important, as it is needed for absorption of iron. Incorporate plenty of citrus fruits such as oranges and lemons into your diet. Mash an over ripe banana and mix it with a teaspoon of honey. A teaspoon of this mixture, should be had twice a day, it will help in treating this condition. Soak 5-6 almonds in a glass of water overnight. Strain out the water the next morning and peel the almonds, after which grind them into a thin paste. This paste should be consumed regularly, every morning, for a period of 3-4 months to reduce symptoms. A glass of tomato or apple juice, if consumed every morning has also been found to be beneficial for treating this condition.
