Natural Cures for Dry Nose
A dry nose can be quite an irritating and uncomfortable experience. A dry nose can be caused by a number of factors like a lack of humidity in a person’s current location or even a reaction to the current intake of certain drugs. Whatever may be the case, having a dry nose may seem rather unnatural. Even more so if the dry nose has developed just after you have experienced a bout of common cold. If you took a lot of antihistamines to get rid of a runny nose, an excessive intake could cause the nose to dry up completely. Some people may also experience some cracked skin as well as nose bleeds. This would generally happen if you blew your nose excessively during a bout of the cold, in which case, the skin on the inside of your nose has most likely become very raw. While moisturizing your skin on any other part of the body is relatively straightforward, the nose can be rather tricky. Unlike skin anywhere else, pouring lotions or crèmes down the nasal passage is strictly forbidden for obvious reasons. Any methods used must be taken with the utmost care not to damage any part of the internal respiratory tract. Inhaling steam is always a good option as it provides the nose with natural moisture and is healthy, due to the fact that it contains no added chemicals or reactants. Any appliance that creates steam can be used for this therapy.
However, one should make sure that the water is not too hot or the steam may scald some of the nasal tissue. Using the steam therapy will encourage your nose to excrete its own natural oils and moisturizers. However, should that fail, you may need to turn to external moisturizers, but any actions using these should be performed with the utmost care. Your nose should be properly cleaned using water to remove any possibilities of bacterial infection. A cotton swab dipped in water can help with the cleaning of the nose with a motion similar to that of cleaning your ears. Once the nose has been cleaned, you could try dipping another cotton swab in some diluted tea tree oil and apply this to the insides of the nose. This method will help keep your nose bacteria free for quite some time. You could also provide relief to your nose by applying a hot compress to your nose externally.
