High Blood Pressure Natural Treatment

Hypertension or high blood pressure is one of the most dreaded disorders that can affect a person in his middle ages. Unhealthy eating habits make even the youth prone to this deadly disorder. The adage, ‘prevention is better than cure’, is truer here than in anywhere else. Though not medically 100% curable, there are a lot of organic products that prove very useful in keeping the pressure near the healthy average of 120/80.

You weight is of extreme importance. Shed all the excess flab as soon as possible since, the greater your body mass, the more pressure there is on your artery valves. This is due to the fact that owing to the presence of excess tissues, the heart is under pressure to supply more oxygen to them. Also check your acidity level regularly. Identify the foods that cause acidity in your body and avoid them. Also exercise regularly as this directly results in a healthy heart.

Low potassium can be another cause of high blood pressure. Soya, tomatoes, raisins and wheat germ are excellent sources of potassium and will aid the healing process greatly. Go for foods high in starch and fiber like fresh fruits, green vegetables (raw or at least undercooked), and beans. Meticulously avoid high fat foods. Go for whole grain cereals, pasta, rice and breads which are excellent substitutes. Reduce the intake of salt as the sodium in it can be detrimental to the heart as it causes fluid retention.

Garlic is probably among the best of all cures. Its consumption is known to show a significant reduction in blood pressure as it reduces lipids and bad cholesterols in the blood. Multiple tests have been conducted to prove the efficiency of garlic and garlic supplements in fighting hypertension. However, in case of garlic supplements, medical supervision is advised since they have a tendency to thin blood.

There are several herbal remedies for high BP. A small evergreen shrub called winter cherry has been used since ages to help victims of hypertension. Its extract has significant anti-inflammatory and anti-stress properties. Water hyssop extract is another excellent herbal cure. Anxiety levels, which can be fatal in case of high blood pressure, is known to reduce by as much as 20% after administration of Water hyssop. Fish oil, which contains DHA (docohexaenoic acid) is also advised by some in reducing blood pressure levels.

Another extremely effective remedy is Hawthorne. It increases the strength of contraction of the heart muscle, regulates heart beat and increases coronary circulation. What makes it even better is the fact that it is an affordable herb with no known side effects.
